Mark Coan, O.D.

Dr. Mark Coan received his Bachelors of Science and Doctorate in Optometry from Indiana University. He has current therapeutic Pharmaceutical Certification in Florida and certification in the management and treatment of ocular disease. He also completed his residency in ocular disease at the world famous Bascom Palmer Eye Institute where he held the position as Director of Optometric Externship for 5 years and was an adjunct clinical professor.

Dr. Mark Coan has always been an active member in profession and community. He is also a member of the American Optometric Association and the Florida Optometric Association. He also is a board examiner for the state board exams for Florida. He has a close working relationship with several Orlando Ophthalmologists as well as numerous family physicians. He also participates in contact lens studies for different contact lens companies.

His care and support is evident not only in the comfortable, yet professional setting of the office, but also in the technologically advanced equipment with which the office is equipped. The latest equipment added to the practice takes a 3D scan below the retina (the film at the back of the eye.) He truly cares about ensuring a lifetime of healthy vision for his patients as well as their immediate needs. From chronic dry eye relief to monitoring of sight threatening diseases like glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy, and macular degeration.

Dr. Mark Coan is very passionate about his profession and takes great pride in providing the best vision care that is focused on each individual patient. When he is not at work, he enjoys running, playing the guitar, or spends quality time with his 2 children.

Roxanne Achong-Coan OD, FAAO, FIAOMC, FSLS, FBCLA

Dr. Roxanne Achong-Coan is first and foremost, a warm and caring optometrist who is driven by the desire to find the best way to correct vision and eye problems for her patients. Her goal is to focus on each patient as a unique individual and each patient receives comprehensive care and support from the doctors and their experienced staff. She received her Bachelors of Science at the University of Toronto in Canada and received her Doctorate in Optometry from the New England College of Optometry in 1998.

She has current therapeutic Pharmaceutical Certification in Florida and has the certification in the management and treatment of ocular disease. She also completed her residency in cornea and contact lenses at the Pacific University College of Optometry in Oregon. She is a clinical adjunct assistant professor at Pacific University College of Optometry and won the top clinical research poster at the Global Specialty Lens Symposium on keratoconus versus normal eyes. She began practicing in Miami shortly afterward and moved to Orlando in 2001. Dr. Achong-Coan has trained in the latest advances in eye care and brings a new level of vision care and eye health service to the central Florida area.

Dr. Achong-Coan has always been an active member in profession and community. She is a member and fellow of the American Academy of Optometry, American Optometric Association, Florida Optometric Association, Scleral Lens Society, and the International Academy of Orthokeratology and Myopia Control.

Dr. Achong-Coan has experience with the most advanced contact lenses including silicone hydrogel, multifocal, astigmatism and colored contact lenses. For those with mild to moderate nearsightedness, Dr. Achong-Coan is certified in the fitting of Paragon CRT lenses and is a Fellow of the International Academy of Orthokeratology and Myopia Control(FIAOMC). This lens reshapes the cornea as you sleep for the temporary correction of nearsightedness.

She is also often involved in contact lens research studies which help to bring you the latest in technology in contact lenses for your eyes and has several publications.

She is on the advisory board for the Gas Permeable Lens Institute and on the editorial review board for Modern Optometry. She was also voted as one of the top 250 doctors out of approximately 40,000 optometrists in the nation by Primary Care Optometry News and is a Best Practice Honoree by Coopervision.

Dr. Achong-Coan is a Fellow of the Scleral Lens Society a fellow of the British Contact Lens Association and lectures to other eye care professionals for their continuing education. She also lectures to other optometrists for their continuing education on specialty fitting of contact lenses and has performed several contact lens workshops. She is currently a key opinion leader for contact lenses. Her hobbies outside of eye care include personal fitness and teaching her two children about the world.

Steven M. Sobel, O.D.


Dr. Steven M. Sobel was born in Florida and received his bachelor of arts in pre-medical biology from the University of Texas. He subsequently earned his optometry degree at the University of Houston College of Optometry in 1983. Dr. Sobel did internships in contact lenses, geriatric and pediatric vision. In 1985 he became a Florida Board Certified Optometric Physician and has maintained its strict educational requirements. Dr. Sobel was an Adjunct Clinical Preceptor for Illinois College of Optometry in 2005-2006. He has nine times earned the Optometric Recognition Award for extended continuing education. Dr. Sobel is an active member of the American Optometric Association and Florida Optometric Association. Dr. Sobel has been in private practice in Orlando, Florida since 1983.
